Dixon Hall hosted its 2025 Annual General Meeting

Dixon Hall hosted its 2025 Annual General Meeting, bringing together community, Dixon Hall partners, donors, and staff to celebrate a year of growth, collaboration, and impact across Toronto’s Downtown East. 

Board Chair Cameron Scrivens highlighted Dixon Hall’s continued commitment to addressing Toronto’s housing challenges, including the opening of 65 Dundas Street East, which provides supportive housing and wraparound services rooted in dignity and care. 

CEO Mina Mawani, reflected on a year defined by connection and collaboration. “Every step we took this year was grounded in our belief that lasting change happens when we walk alongside the people we serve,” said Mawani.  

Among the Dixon Hall highlights of the past year: 

• Over 241,000 meals provided in shelter and respite services. 

• Over 69,000 meals delivered to isolated seniors. 

12,849 individual and group music lessons for youth. 

• Over 1,800 individuals equipped with skills and job readiness. 

The evening also featured keynote remarks from Dr. Marla Beauchamp, Director of the McMaster Institute for Research on Aging | Dixon Hall Centre, and Dr. Parminder Raina, Scientific Director of the McMaster Institute for Research on Aging, who spoke about the partnership between MIRA and Dixon Hall to advance healthy aging and inclusion. 

Dixon Hall presented the Order of Dixon, its annual recognition to recognize individuals and partners whose extraordinary contributions have helped shape Dixon Hall’s mission and impact. This year the Order of Dixon was awarded to Scott Bell, Jake and Sarah Kazanjian, Suzanne Labarge and Juliana Sprott, recognizing their outstanding leadership, generosity, and long-standing commitment to creating lasting solutions to end poverty, social injustices, and isolation. 

As the organization approaches its 100th anniversary, Dixon Hall reaffirmed its commitment to building a more inclusive and compassionate Toronto, one rooted in community and reaching for change.
