Dixon Hall Receives $1.3 Million Donation from The Sprott Foundation to Support Newly Renovated Community Hub & Training Centre

Toronto, ON, February 18, 2025: Dixon Hall is thrilled to announce a generous $1.3 million donation from The Sprott Foundation, a significant contribution to the organization’s capital campaign for its newly renovated Community Hub and Training Centre at 58 Sumach Street. This transformational gift will bolster Dixon Hall’s infrastructure and capacity, ensuring critical programs and services continue to reach the most marginalized in the Downtown East community.

“This investment from The Sprott Foundation is a lifeline for the Downtown East community,” said Mina Mawani, CEO of Dixon Hall. “It allows us to strengthen and expand our impact, ensuring that people facing housing instability, unemployment, food insecurity, and social isolation have a safe, welcoming space to access support and build better futures.”

The recently renovated headquarters at 58 Sumach is a vital hub where community members can access employment training, housing support, meal programs, and social services – all under one roof. This donation will help sustain and enhance these services by:

Strengthening infrastructure to provide a safe, modern, and accessible space for community engagement.

Expanding training and employment programs that empower individuals with skills and pathways to meaningful work.

Enhancing program delivery to better serve those facing barriers to housing, food security, and social connection.

The Sprott Foundation has a longstanding commitment to supporting initiatives that drive sustainable social change. Their investment in Dixon Hall reflects a shared vision of building strong, inclusive communities where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.

“My family and I congratulate Dixon Hall, and everyone involved, on the wonderful transformation of their Community Hub and Training Centre into a welcoming place that meets the needs of the community,” said Juliana Sprott, Chief Giving Officer of The Sprott Foundation. “We’re happy to provide funding toward this important project because everyone deserves dignified access to basic needs, including freshly prepared, nourishing meals from a vibrant kitchen and dining space at the heart of the building.”

With this milestone gift, Dixon Hall moves closer to fully realizing the potential of its revitalized headquarters – a space that will continue to serve as a beacon of hope and opportunity for decades to come.
