Dixon Hall Hosts Community Open House to Mark New Supportive Housing on Parliament Street

Toronto, ON, April 30, 2026: Dixon Hall welcomed community members, partners, and local businesses to a community open house at 504 – 508 Parliament Street, marking a key milestone in the revitalization of these restored heritage homes.
The event brought together neighbours, elected officials, and community partners to learn more about the project and engage directly with the team behind it. The open house also highlighted Dixon Hall’s partnership with Reconnect Health Services to deliver supportive housing for individuals experiencing chronic homelessness.
Through this collaboration, tenants will have access to wraparound supports aimed at promoting housing stability, improving health outcomes, and fostering meaningful connections within the community.

“As we begin welcoming tenants into these homes, we wanted to share this moment with the community and continue building strong relationships,” said Janet Lambert, Interim CEO of Dixon Hall. “This project reflects our commitment to creating inclusive, supportive spaces while working closely with our neighbours.”
The Parliament Street homes represent an important step in Dixon Hall’s continued growth as a multi-service agency serving Toronto’s Downtown East. Originally built in the 19th century, the properties have been carefully restored to preserve their heritage while providing safe, stable housing.

“The Parliament Houses mark an important moment in Dixon Hall’s evolution,” said Cameron Scrivens, Board Chair of Dixon Hall. “What began as a small soup kitchen has grown into a multi-service organization, and today we’re focused not just on housing, but on building strong, connected communities alongside our neighbours.”
The open house created space for dialogue, allowing residents and local businesses to ask questions, share feedback, and learn more about how the site will be managed. Dixon Hall emphasized its commitment to maintaining the property to a high standard and being a responsive, community-focused operator.
The organization also acknowledged the strong support of local partners, including the City of Toronto, the Cabbagetown BIA, the Winchester Park Neighbourhood Association, and local businesses who contributed to the event. In keeping with its commitment to supporting the local economy, all food and refreshments served at the open house were sourced from neighbourhood businesses.
As tenants begin moving in, Dixon Hall will continue to work closely with community members and partners to ensure the property contributes positively to a safe, well-maintained, and connected neighbourhood.
