Dixon Hall Brings Tenants and Neighbours Together for a Community BBQ
August 28, 2026 — Dixon Hall hosted a tenant and community BBQ at its supportive housing site at 504–508 Parliament Street, bringing tenants, neighbours, and staff together for an afternoon filled with good food, conversation, creativity, and connection.
The BBQ offered a chance for people to step outside, spend time with one another, and enjoy the shared outdoor space. For tenants, opportunities to gather informally with neighbours and staff can help build relationships and strengthen a sense of community within their home.
Throughout the afternoon, there were plenty of conversations and laughs as people connected over a meal and enjoyed each other’s company. The gathering also featured a bench-painting activity, giving tenants an opportunity to share their creativity and add their own personal touches to the outdoor space.
With paintbrushes in hand, tenants added colourful designs to the benches, bringing new life to a shared area and creating something that reflects the people who call the building home. The activity was a fun way to spend the afternoon while giving tenants an opportunity to participate in shaping and caring for their community.
Gatherings like this are about more than bringing people together for a meal. They create opportunities for neighbours to get to know one another, strengthen relationships, and foster a sense of belonging. They also reflect the importance of creating safe and supportive housing environments where tenants feel seen, supported, and included.
