Dixon Hall Wraps Up the Summer with the ShowLove BBQ

August 21, 2026 — This summer has been a busy one at the Bill Graham Youth Centre, with another successful Summer Camp and our annual ShowLove BBQ bringing young people, families, neighbours, staff, volunteers, and community partners together for a season of connection and community.
The ShowLove BBQ gave everyone a chance to come together and enjoy an afternoon of food, fun, and activities. From ice cream, human foosball and basketball to fresh and affordable produce at the community Farmers Market, there was something for everyone to enjoy.

The event also highlighted the leadership and creativity of young people in the community. Members of the KYM (Keeping Youth Motivated) Committee, a group of youth aged 14 and up, played an important role in helping plan and shape this summer’s ShowLove BBQs and Farmers Markets. Through their involvement, KYM Committee members have been developing leadership and community organizing skills, gaining hands-on experience and helping bring community ideas to life. Their contributions helped make the summer’s events engaging, welcoming, and reflective of what young people and families want to see in their community.

We’re also excited that funding for the Building Leadership Out of Community Kids (BLOCK) project has been extended, creating more opportunities for young people at the Bill Graham Youth Centre and supporting the continued impact of this work.
The ShowLove BBQ was a wonderful reminder of what can happen when young people have opportunities to lead, create, and shape their community.
