Dixon Hall Brings Ward 13 Residents and City Council Candidates Together for Community Forum

On October 8, Dixon Hall and community partners hosted Community Forum Ward 13: Meet the Candidates for the Next Toronto Centre City Councillor, bringing residents together to hear directly from candidates, ask questions and discuss the issues shaping their community.
Organized in partnership with Fife House, Fred Victor, Friends of Ruby, Street Haven, The Neighbourhood Group Social Planning Toronto and Focus Media, the forum provided an opportunity for residents to hear candidates’ perspectives and take part in an open conversation about Ward 13’s priorities and future.

In her welcome remarks, Janet Lambert, Interim Chief Executive Officer of Dixon Hall, thanked attendees for taking part in the discussion.
“On behalf of Dixon Hall and our community partners, I want to thank all of you for being here and for taking the time to participate in this important conversation about the future of our community,” said Janet Lambert.
Janet also recognized the partner organizations for their continued work across the Downtown East and beyond, and thanked the candidates for listening to the community and sharing their perspectives on issues affecting residents, families, community organizations and young people.

The discussion was moderated by Jin Huh, Executive Director of Social Planning Toronto, alongside youth moderator Angelique Walker, helping ensure young people’s voices and perspectives were part of the conversation.
Thank you to everyone who attended, shared their questions and contributed to the discussion, as well as to the candidates, moderators and community partners who helped bring the forum together. Conversations like these create opportunities for residents and community organizations to engage with local leadership and discuss the issues that matter to Ward 13.
