Dixon Hall Celebrates the People Behind Our Warming Centres

Dixon Hall Celebrates the People Behind Our Warming Centres

Last Friday, April 10, we came together to celebrate the closing of this year’s Warming Centres at Dixon Hall. It was a moment to reflect on the past few months and recognize the efforts of the team who made this work possible.

Warming Centres open when temperatures drop to -5°C or lower and remain open 24/7 as long as the cold persists. These spaces provide a place to rest, along with meals, washroom facilities, and access to essential supports. Walk-ins and pets are welcome, helping ensure fewer barriers for those seeking care.

Throughout the coldest months, our teams showed up day after day with compassion, professionalism, and unwavering commitment. Behind this work is a dedicated group of staff and partners who bring care, patience, and dedication to everything they do. From preparing meals to creating safe and welcoming spaces, their efforts make a real difference.

The closing is not just an end, but a moment to recognize the care and impact created through this work. It is a reminder of the importance of showing up for one another and building a community where everyone is supported.

At Dixon Hall, this work is part of a broader commitment to addressing poverty, social injustices, and isolation in Toronto, ensuring people have access to essential supports when they need them most.

Thank you to everyone who contributed. Your work matters, and it does not go unnoticed.
