Dixon Hall joins the Shelter and Support Board Advocacy Coalition (SSBAC)

At Dixon Hall, we are deeply committed to creating long-term solutions to homelessness by providing supportive and affordable housing in Toronto. As part of our mission, we are proud to join this collaborative network of shelter and support sector agencies in Toronto to advocate for systemic changes and to ensure equitable access to safe, stable housing for everyone in our community.

What is the Shelter and Support Board Advocacy Coalition (SSBAC)?

Established in 2023 by Fred Victor’s Board of Directors, the SSBAC is a collaborative network that brings together Board members from shelter and support service organizations, along with senior management from partner agencies. Through the development of a unified “Board-led voice”, the Coalition aims to tackle systemic challenges within the sector and set vital goals related to:

  • Achieving strategic objectives for each agency (e.g., fair wages and wage parity among agency, municipal, and provincial shelter workers)
  • Promoting systemic change in the shelter and supportive housing sector
  • Strengthening collaborations among non-profit Boards and associations

Looking Ahead

Dixon Hall is proud to be part of the Coalition to achieve our collective goals and create lasting solutions to end poverty, social injustices, and isolation in Toronto. If you would like to learn more about the Coalition, please contact the SSBAC Chair, Jawad Kassab, on LinkedIn or by email
