Introducing our new Director of Philanthropy & Communications

Dixon Hall is pleased to announce the appointment of Laura Stenberg as the Director of Philanthropy & Communications. In this role, Laura will oversee all aspects of fund development, donor stewardship and engagement, as well as agency communications and brand development.

Laura joined Dixon Hall in 2016 as the Manager of Foundation and Corporate Giving before being promoted to Senior Manager, Philanthropy. As an instrumental member of the fundraising team, she worked to cultivate, develop, and maintain relationships with key partners, and crafted compelling applications and proposals to secure new financial support from funders.

Notably, her expert writing, collaboration, and critical thinking skills resulted in successful funding from the Government of Canada’s “Innovative Solutions to Homelessness” program resulting in Dixon Hall’s first research project; a Capital Grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation resulting in a new, accessible bus for the Senior’s Department, and funding from the City of Toronto, resulting in two new projects supporting precariously-housed and street-involved individuals; the Housing with Layered Supports Project and the Rooming House Project.

Laura is a highly-skilled communicator with rich experience in the non-profit sector; she supported the Canadian Women’s Foundation as Partnership Writer before joining Dixon Hall. Laura completed her Undergraduate and Master’s degrees in English at the University of Guelph, and obtained a PhD in English Literature from the University of Toronto.

Outside of work, Laura is an avid runner who regularly supports a range of charitable causes by fundraising for and participating in organized races. (She notes that she generally runs these quite slowly, alongside her husband and young son who both run much faster than she does.)
