Dixon Hall Celebrates Milestone in Supportive Housing with Opening of Parliament Street Rooming House Project

Toronto, November 4, 2025: Dixon Hall proudly celebrated the transformation of 504 – 508 Parliament Street into safe and dignified supportive housing for more than 30 individuals who have experienced homelessness.
Developed in partnership with Toronto Community Housing (TCH) and the City of Toronto, our Parliament Rooming Houses mark a significant milestone in Dixon Hall’s mission to provide pathways to stability, independence, and belonging.
The heritage buildings have been carefully restored to preserve Cabbagetown’s architectural character, while their interiors have been redesigned into modern, accessible homes featuring private washrooms, shared community spaces, and 24-hour onsite supports.
“Today’s celebration represents the best of what can happen when community, government, and dedicated partners come together around a shared vision,” said Mina Mawani, CEO of Dixon Hall. “I want to thank all our elected officials for their collaboration, and our partners and funders for their unwavering support in bringing this vision to life. This project isn’t just about restoring buildings, it is about restoring hope, dignity, and connection for people who need it most.”
MPP Kristyn Wong-Tam highlighted the project’s community impact – “This is what true investment in people looks like when you create inclusive, supportive housing that allows residents to thrive while preserving the heritage and heart of our neighbourhoods”.
Councillor Chris Moise added, “I’m proud to see this transformation in our community. Dixon Hall’s leadership and commitment are helping to build a stronger, more compassionate Toronto where everyone has a place to call home.”
Dave Mun, Dixon Hall Board Director and Chair of Dixon Hall’s Real Estate Committee, reflected on the milestone: “What began as an idea has become a reality thanks to the dedication of so many. This project shows what’s possible when vision, collaboration, and care come together.”

The first residents will begin moving into the homes in the next few weeks through the City’s Coordinated Access system. Rent will be geared to income, ensuring long-term affordability and stability.
This milestone represents more than a housing development, it’s a community-driven model for inclusive, dignified living that demonstrates how partnerships can transform lives.
