Emergency Shelter & Homelessness Service Worker Appreciation Week

This week marked the first official Emergency Shelter and Homelessness Service Workers Recognition Week in Toronto. The special event was officially announced by the Mayor’s Office after recognizing the vital work and dedication demonstrated by workers in the housing sector, with a particular focus recognizing their efforts throughout the COVID-19 Pandemic.

Cabbagetown Cares Lunch Initiative

There’s no question that the COVID-19 pandemic has worsened existing food insecurity for residents of Cabbagetown, St. James Town and Regent Park. Many small businesses are also reeling from the financial impacts brought on by the pandemic.

(Re)building Community: Revitalizing Cabbagetown Rooming Houses

Following on the successes of the work done by our Housing Department’s Rooming House Project, Dixon Hall is thrilled to announce that we will be renovating and revitalizing several Cabbagetown rooming houses to provide affordable housing options for those in need.

Neighbours Helping Neighbours

The COVID-19 pandemic has had an enormous impact on Dixon Hall and the many community agencies we work with in the city. No one could have imagined the health crises, the economic turmoil, the stress placed on systems across the city and beyond. And, yet, through this dark time, moments of light and warmth have shone through.
