March 8, International Women’s Day, is a day for all of us to notice. And from where I’m sitting, as part of Philanthropy & Communications at one of Toronto’s oldest multi-service agencies, there are reasons to pause on this date, one that is meant to be both a celebration of the achievements of women, and a call to action for gender equity.
This year during Black History Month, I struggled with my blog and how best to communicate a message worth sharing. Not because I do not have things to say about Black History Month, but because I have too many things to say about where we are in our collective Black history this month.
A fire occurred during the evening of February 14 at the Bond Place Hotel. The Hotel is currently serving as a shelter, leased to the City of Toronto, and is being operated by Dixon Hall. The fire was contained by Toronto Fire and there were no injuries.
The Scheinberg Relief Fund created an opportunity for us to act quickly and effectively for those in our community who needed a helping hand. Without their help, we might not have been able to offer some of these essential community programs. We’re thrilled to share with you the impact made by the Scheinberg Relief Fund’s contribution in our community.
To celebrate the end of the 2020 school year, Dixon Hall Music School hosted its first ever virtual recital featuring over 60 performers! We want to extend our gratitude to our amazing teachers, our talented students, and for everyone who came out to support the event, and enjoy a night of music, entertainment and community.
